Make: Rolls-Royce

This 1977 Rolls-Royce Corniche saloon is said to have been delivered new to Rolls-Royce of Beverly Hills in California, and was subsequently exported to Germany in 1992. The car later spent time in Monaco under the ownership of artist Rainer Maria Latzke before undergoing a refurbishment in 2000 that involved refinishing the body in Emerald Black Metallic, reupholstering the interior with Magnolia leather accented by black piping, overhauling the suspension, and rebuilding the 6.75-liter V8 and three-speed automatic transmission. It is also equipped with 15″ wheels, four-wheel disc brakes, four-wheel independent suspension, a Spirit of Ecstasy ornament, power windows, and automatic climate control. The seller acquired the car in 2018, and the fluids were replaced in 2023. This Corniche now shows 95k miles and is offered in Leipzig, Germany, with manufacturer’s literature, refurbishment photos, service records, and German registration. The Corniche was an evolution of the two-door Silver Shadow built by Mulliner Park Ward. This example was ordered with white paint, and was refinished in Emerald Black Metallic in 2000 following bodywork. The front side markers were removed and the holes were filled and indicators were installed in the fenders, and exterior details include a Spirit of Ecstasy ornament, a chrome grille, and fog lights. Steel 15″ wheels wear Rolls-Royce-logo chrome covers and are mounted with 235/70 Avon Turbosteel 70 tires. The four-wheel independent suspension is equipped with a rear hydraulic self-leveling system, and stopping power is provided by four-wheel disc brakes. The suspension, braking, and steering systems were overhauled during the refurbishment, and the brake fluid was flushed in preparation for the sale. The front bucket seats and a rear bench were reupholstered in Magnolia leather with black seat piping in 2000, and Wilton carpeting with Magnolia edging was installed. Wood veneer accents the dashboard, steering wheel, and door panels, and amenities include automatic climate control, a Blaupunkt AM/FM stereo, a Kenwood CD player, and power windows. Jaeger instrumentation including a 140-mph speedometer, an ammeter, and supplementary gauges for oil pressure, temperature, and fuel level. A VDO exterior temperature gauge is mounted on the dashboard along with a Kienzle analog clock. The six-digit mechanical odometer shows 95k miles, approximately 4k of which have been added under current ownership. The 6.75-liter V8 was rebuilt in 2000 with replacement pistons, rings, and bearings as well as a polished crankshaft and machined heads. The oil was changed in preparation for the sale. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a three-speed automatic transmission, which the seller states was also rebuilt. Photos from the refurbishment in 2000 are detailed in the photo gallery below along with German-language service records. The car does not have a title, as it is registered in a country that does not issue titles for vehicles. It is being sold on its German registration.
