This 1978 Ferrari 512 BB started one of 929 carbureted examples built during five years of production and is said to have been delivered new in Italy to a German businessman. In 1982, chassis 24269 reportedly underwent a conversion by Koenig Specials in Munich, Germany, that included the installation of a fiberglass widebody kit and modification of the 4.9-liter quad-cam flat-12 with twin Rajay turbochargers, twin intercoolers, and mechanical fuel injection. The car is said to have spent several years in storage in Switzerland before being imported in 2013 to the UK, where it was purchased by its current owner in 2017. Finished in red over black leather and suede, the car also features a five-speed manual transaxle with a limited-slip differential, four-wheel ventilated disc brakes, staggered-width 15” Speedline multipiece wheels, electronic ignition, a fire-suppression system, power windows, and a Grundig stereo. This Koenig-Specials 512 BB is now offered on dealer consignment in Cheltenham, England, with invoices dating back to 2015 and UK V5C registration documents. After commissioning bodywork and performance modifications for his own Ferrari 365 BB in the mid-1970s, Willy König founded Koenig-Specials in 1977 as a provider of similar conversions for a range of Ferrari models and other high-end marques. In addition to aerodynamically oriented fiberglass body panels, the company offered a variety of chassis modifications and engine tuning packages ranging in claimed output from 370 to 650 horsepower. Styled by Vittorio Strosek, Koenig bodywork includes flared fenders, a chin spoiler with quad ducts, integrated side mirrors, a modified rear bumper, and a rear clamshell with an integrated spoiler, intake scoops, and body-color airboxes. This example is finished in red and retains factory design cues including pop-up headlights flanking aluminum hood louvers, fog lights positioned behind the grille, NACA ducts rearward of the doors, and a high-mount rear spoiler. Dual exhaust outlets are flanked by turbocharger wastegate dump tubes. Multipiece Speedline wheels feature gold-painted centers and are wrapped in Pirelli P Zero Asimmetrico tires measuring 225/50ZR15 up front and 345/35ZR15 at the rear. Stopping is handled by servo-assisted ventilated disc brakes at each corner. The cabin houses bucket seats that were re-trimmed in 2020 in black leather with suede inserts, while color-matched trim covers the door panels, console, and dashboard. Features include black carpeting, crescent-shaped headrests, inertia-reel shoulder belts, a gated shifter, sill-mounted ashtrays, a lockable glovebox, air conditioning, power windows, and a Grundig cassette stereo. A fire-suppression system has been added, and a hand-operated fire extinguisher is mounted in front of the passenger seat. The window motors are noted to operate slowly, while the air conditioning does not work. The MOMO steering wheel sits ahead of Veglia Borletti instrumentation including a 330-km/h speedometer, a 10k-rpm tachometer, and gauges monitoring coolant temperature and oil pressure. The five-digit odometer shows 15k kilometers (~10k miles). Additional instruments include a clock and gauges monitoring oil temperature, amperage, and fuel level, while gauges mounted under the dash indicate boost pressure for each turbo. The 4.9-liter F102B quad-cam flat-12 was overhauled during the Koenig build with modifications including turbo-specification forged pistons, a 7.2:1 compression ratio, twin Rajay-Albert turbochargers, dual intercoolers, dual oil coolers, Bosch K-Jetronic mechanical fuel injection, and MSD electronic ignition. Service in 2020 included timing belt replacement, ceramic coating of the exhaust manifolds and collectors, replacement of the spark plugs, and fluid changes. A 2017 fuel system overhaul included replacement of the injectors with uprated units and rebuilds of the metering heads and warm-up regulators, the latter with three-stage enrichment. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a five-speed manual transaxle with a twin-disc clutch and a limited-slip differential. The clutch was replaced in 2020. The suspension system incorporates unequal-length wishbones, anti-roll bars at front and rear, and coilover shock absorbers, with double coilovers at each rear wheel. The vehicle is being sold on its UK registration. The sale does not include a title, as the vehicle is registered in a country that does not issue titles for vehicles.
