This 1978 Lola T492 is said to have been imported to the US in the late 1970s and was campaigned in the SCCA San Francisco region. The car was acquired by the seller in 2018 and subsequently refurbished with work consisting of fitting a replacement body from TW Mouldings, installing a rebuilt engine and replacement transaxle, and overhauling the brakes, suspension, and chassis. The car is finished in blue gel coat with Martini Racing livery and is powered by a Ford Cosworth 2.0L inline-four paired with a Hewland five-speed manual transaxle and limited-slip differential. This T492 is offered in California with two SCCA logbooks, partial service records, set-up documents, and a bill of sale. The body was refurbished in 2020 with replacement body panels from TW Mouldings and is finished in blue gel coat with Martini Racing livery. Features include removable front and rear clamshells, rear cooling ducts, a front splitter and rear spoiler, chrome bullet-style side mirrors on custom brackets, and taillights. Black 13″ Revolution alloy wheels wear Avon racing tires. The braking system was refurbished with a replacement Girling master cylinder, Wilwood LD20 aluminum calipers, brake lines, and Hawk Blue pads. Koni double-adjustable aluminum-body shocks and Eibach springs are installed, and the suspension components are said to have been nickel plated. The front and rear uprights were painted, and the stub axles were media blasted. The right-hand-drive cockpit features an integrated roll bar, an aluminum-frame racing bucket seat for tall drivers, and a Willans six-point safety harness. Additional features include a nickel-plated pedal box and a Stroud fire system which was recently replaced. The three-spoke steering wheel wears a suede wrap with white stitching and frames an 8k-rpm tachometer and auxiliary gauges for oil pressure and coolant temperature. The wiring, fuse box, and switchgear were replaced during the refurbishment. The 2.0-liter YB Ford Cosworth inline-four was rebuilt in 2020 and has been run approximately 6 hours. The engine features: Dual Weber 45 DCOE Carburetors Titan Series 2 Dry sump system with a custom high capacity oil tank, AN12 fittings, and a Setrab Oil Cooler Tilton 7.25 Clutch Ceramic coated exhaust manifold Pertronix Ignition System Facet fuel pump with regulator/filter Aluminum coolant radiators Power is sent to the rear wheels through a replacement Hewland MK5 five-speed transaxle and Quaife limited-slip differential, which were rebuilt by Taylor Engineering and have been run 6 hours. A custom Tilton slave cylinder from Taylor Engineering is installed. The chassis was reportedly refurbished with work including: Crack checking, media blasting, and painting the frame Nickel plating steel chassis component and installing purple rivets Replacing the front crash box and front a rear body support frames Modifying the frame and tub for increased rigidity Logbooks detailing races entered under previous and current ownership are included in the sale.
