$18,000
Make: Rolls-Royce
Year: 1978

This 1978 Rolls-Royce Camargue is one of 531 examples produced over an 11-year production run and was sold new in Japan, where it was converted from a coupe to a convertible during previous ownership. Finished in red over beige leather upholstery, the car is powered by a 6.75-liter V8 mated to a three-speed automatic transmission. Equipment includes 15″ steel wheels, a power-retractable beige soft top, air conditioning, power-operated windows, and an aftermarket Sony AM/FM stereo. The car was imported to Canada prior to the selling dealer’s acquisition in September 2021. This right-hand-drive Camargue is offered in Canada with manufacturer’s literature and Ontario registration. The Camargue was designed by Paolo Martin at Pininfarina and was Rolls-Royce’s flagship model when released in 1975. This example is said to have been converted to a convertible and refinished in its current shade of red during previous ownership. Exterior details include a power-retractable beige soft top, a chrome grill with a Spirit of Ecstasy hood ornament, quad headlights, impact bumpers, black lower body cladding, and twin exhaust outlets. Black 15″ steel wheels wear bright hubcaps with trim rings and are mounted with 235/75 Michelin LTX M/S tires. The car is equipped with hydraulic rear ride-height adjustment, rack-and-pinion power steering, and power-assisted four-wheel disc brakes. The right-hand-drive cabin features front bucket seats and a rear bench trimmed in beige leather with red piping, which are complimented by matching door panels and carpeting. The black dashboard features hardwood trim accents, and amenities include air conditioning, power-adjustable front seats, power-operated windows, and an aftermarket Sony AM/FM stereo. The two-spoke leather-wrapped steering wheel fronts a 220-km/h speedometer and gauges for fuel level and amperage. The six-digit odometer shows under 43k kilometers (~27k miles). The carbureted 6.75-liter V8 was shared with the Silver Shadow and was reworked by Rolls-Royce to produce 170 horsepower and 369 ft-lb of torque when new. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a GM-sourced TH400 three-speed automatic transmission. Additional underbody photos are available in the gallery below. Manufacturer’s literature is included in the sale.
