This 1983 Renault R5 Turbo 2 was modified between 2010 to 2013 as a tribute to the 1985 Monte Carlo Rally-winning Maxi Turbo driven by Jean Ragnotti. The car wears a red, white, and blue Phillips livery over a race-prepped interior and is powered by a modified mid-mounted turbocharged 1.4-liter inline-four paired with a five-speed manual transaxle. Equipment includes Maxi-style bodywork, driving lights, staggered-diameter Compomotive wheels, AP Racing brakes, adjustable coilovers, Renault Sport sway bars, a roll cage, Sparco racing seats, timing equipment, a fire suppression system, a Sparco steering wheel, and a Renault Sport pedal box. The car was featured on BaT in February 2016 and it was imported into the US and acquired by the owner the same year. This street-legal R5 Turbo 2 Maxi tribute is now offered on behalf of the owner with a clean Carfax report and a clean Maryland title describing the car as a 1982 model year. Between 2010 and 2013, the car was modified to resemble the R5 Turbo that won the 1985 Monte Carlo Rally championship. The car was repainted in red, white, and blue and wears a Phillips #3 livery. Features include a vented hood, Maxi-style bumpers, a roof spoiler, driving lights, and Saint-Gobain glass. 15″ and 16″ Compomotive wheels are wrapped in 195/50 front and 245/45 rear Nexen Radial tires. The suspension features adjustable coilovers, Renault Sport A-arms and swaybars, and front and rear strut tower braces. Braking is handled by AP Racing calipers and slotted rotors. The car was stripped and fitted with a bolt-in roll cage, Sparco Rev racing seats, RSS Rally Racing harnesses, a fire suppression system, a Renault Sport Pedal box, OMP floorboards, a modified shifter, timing equipment, modified door panels, and black floor mats. The Sparco steering wheel fronts a VDO 220-km/h speedometer, an 8k-rpm tachometer, a clock, and gauges for oil pressure, boost pressure, fuel level, amperage, voltage, oil pressure, oil temperature, and coolant temperature. The digital odometer shows 3,500 kilometers (~2,200 miles), and the total mileage is unknown. The front compartment houses a carbon-kevlar radiator duct, an aftermarket radiator with dual electric vans, brake and clutch fluid reservoirs, and a battery. The 1,397cc inline-four is equipped with an aftermarket turbocharger and a custom intake manifold, airbox, and exhaust system. The seller notes that the engine is also fitted with a Maxi-spec camshaft and that it was rebuilt approximately 500 miles ago. The seller notes that the five-speed manual transaxle is a Renault Sport–specification unit and that a twin-plate clutch is also fitted. Additional photos of the underside are provided in the image gallery. The car is titled in Maryland using the VIN VF1822000D0000156 shown above and is listed as a 1982 model year. The Carfax report shows no accidents or other damage and lists history in Maryland from its first entry in August 2016.
