1984 Renault R5 Turbo

This 1984 Renault R5 Turbo 2 was sold new in Germany and spent about 20 years in Japan before moving to Canada for the past 15 years. The previous owner traded this car in to the selling dealer more than a year ago toward a 2001 Clio V6 Sport that had been imported from Japan. The odometer now shows 73k kilometers (~45k miles), and the mid-mounted 1.4-liter Cléon-Fonte turbo four is paired with a 5-speed manual transaxle. Under previous ownership, the car was maintained by Michael Guegan at Alpine America in Quebec. A full list of recent work is provided in the description below, and the car is now being offered with factory books, some spares, an appraisal report from June 2017, and an Ontario registration. Less than 300 kilometers ago in June 2017, the previous owner had this Renault appraised by Maurice Bramhall & Associates. The 2-page report is contained in the photo gallery below and lists cosmetic imperfections as stone chips on the forward-facing surfaces, paint touch-ups on the left-rear wheel arch, some stress cracks on the right-rear fender, and a star crack in the right-front fender. According to the previous owner, recent maintenance by Michael Guegan at Alpine America in Quebec included four new Bilstein shocks, Tarox brake discs, EBC brake pads, stainless steel brake lines, and Cibie fog lamp covers. The interior also received work from Michael Guegan, including recovering the factory seats and fitting new French-made Selliers Du Domaine carpets. The appraisal report states that the cabin is in generally nice shape, with a missing fuse panel and some headliner puckering at the rear. Currently, the odometer shows 73k kilometers (~45k miles), which is reportedly correct based on known history and long-term previous ownership. The mid-mounted and turbocharged 1.4-liter Cléon-Fonte inline-four features a 3S Development stainless steel exhaust system. The previous owner has also listed recent mechanical maintenance, including an aluminum twin-fan radiator from John Price Rallying in the UK and a refreshed Bosch fuel-injection system with a rebuilt fuel distributor, new injectors, accumulator, warm-up regulator, fuel pumps, and braided stainless fuel lines. A new starter was also installed along with a rebuilt alternator, a new battery, coolant hoses, a new water pump, differential seals, and a new engine compartment fan.
