This 1987 Porsche 928 S4 was purchased new from Island Lux Cars & Sportscars of Hewlett, New York, and was imported to Canada in 2014 under previous ownership before being purchased by the seller in December 2019. The car is finished in black over black leather, and power is from a 5.0-liter V8 linked to a five-speed manual transaxle. Additional equipment includes 17″ Carrera wheels, a rear spoiler, heated power-adjustable seats, and an MBRP muffler. Maintenance between 2015-2020 includes the timing belt, fuel system, and HVAC services as well as replacement of the valve cover gaskets, wiring repairs, fluid changes, and more. This 928 S4 is offered with five years of service records totaling nearly $20k, a factory tool kit, removed stock components, a Carfax report, and an Ontario registration in the seller’s name. The 928 featured updated styling with revised bumper covers and lighting for the 1987 model year. This example is finished in Black (L700), and the hood and both bumper covers are said to have been refinished to correct stone chips and other wear. Details include side moldings, a front lip spoiler, and a fixed wing on the rear hatch. The seller notes a ding in the roof and a crack in the lower left corner of the windshield, both of which are pictured in the gallery below. 993 Carrera 17″ wheels were installed under previous ownership and wear Michelin Pilot Sport AS/3 tires with 2016 and 2017 date codes. Stock wheels are said to be included in the sale. Vented disc brakes are equipped at both ends; the ABS relay was replaced in 2017, and the brake fluid was flushed in 2020. New front struts were installed and a four-wheel alignment performed in 2018, while a power steering leak was repaired in 2020. Black leather trims heated and eight-way power-adjustable seats, with the switch for the passenger seat switch repaired in June 2020. Other service in the past five years included replacement of the interior temperature sensor as well as the driver’s door handle and window rail guides. The air conditioning system was overhauled and converted for R134a refrigerant in 2018. Amenities consist of power windows and locks, a motorized sunroof, cruise control, and an audio system with two amplifiers. The seller has installed a Blaupunkt New York head unit in place of the factory Blaupunkt Reno unit, which is said to be inoperable but is included with the sale and pictured in the image gallery. The padded steering wheel frames VDO gauges including a tachometer with a 6,400-rpm redline and a 180-mph speedometer. The six-digit odometer shows 73k miles, approximately 2k of which have been added by the seller. A series of conflicting odometer readings are reported in the Carfax below. The cargo area features a suspended cover and a carpeted floor mat. A cargo net, spare wheel, and tool kit are pictured in the gallery below. The 5.0-liter, 32-valve M28 V8 is equipped with dual overhead camshafts and was rated at 316 horsepower with 317 lb-ft of torque for the S4. Shifting is through a five-speed manual transaxle mounted at the rear. The timing belt and water pump were replaced in June 2017, and the tensioner was adjusted in September 2018. The seller notes a deteriorated hood liner, and a replacement piece is included with the sale. Service in 2020 included refurbishment of the LH ECU by 928sRus as well as replacement of the valve cover gaskets, center cam seals, rear cam end plugs, and a coolant flush. Other parts repaired or replaced between 2015-present include: Throttle switch Breather hose, alternator cooling air hose Fuel tank repairs, sender wiring, damper, pressure regulator, return lines Vacuum hoses and valves Clutch master cylinder Upper radiator hose Crank sensor The following equipment is described on the car’s option code decal: 139 – Seat heater, left 158 – Blaupunkt Reno SQR 46 cassette radio 302 – Model designation on rear end 340 – Seat heater, right 418 – Side protection moldings 481 – Five-speed manual gearbox 490 – Sound system 494 – Additional amplifier 650 – Sun/moonroof The Carfax report indicates an accident-free history with ownership in New York and Ontario, and contains several conflicting mileage readings, which the seller believes can be attributed to a conversion error.
