This 1988 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 was raced in the Trans-Am Series in the late 1980s and restored four years ago. During his five years of ownership, the seller has won races in both Group 7 and Group 10 with this car, which also participated in the Monterey Motorsports Reunion in 2013 and 2014. The 358ci V8 has one race on its current build and is backed by a Weismann 5-speed transmission and Winters aluminum-center rear end. An HMSA logbook is included, and this example most recently passed SVRA tech inspection in September 2016. Numerous spares and extras come with the car, including body molds, two sets of wheels, spare bodywork, and the original Fox shocks. This Camaro Trans-Am racer is sold on a bill of sale and has been accepted into the 2017 Monterey Historics. The body is finished in a white scheme with blue accents that conceals 13″ and 14″ wide BBS wheels. The sale includes two prepped and painted front splitters, two spare front fenders and spare nose piece, plus six original body molds in good condition. The original front fenders and nose still painted and lettered from 1988 are also included. The cabin is purposeful, with silver-faced autometer gauges and a new collapsible steering column. Per the seller, all of the safety equipment is up to date, including the fire system and belts. The car is said to be ready to race as-is, and last passed SVRA tech inspection in September 2016. Several photos are provided of the square-tube IMSA chassis with the bodywork removed. The car was fully disassembled and restored four years ago, and per the seller a suspension setup performed two years ago by Joe Geldert went a long way towards optimizing performance. Power comes from a 358ci V8 producing 557.5 horsepower and 480.2 lb-ft of torque according to an attached dyno sheet. The Weisman 5-speed manual allows clutch-less upshifts, while the Winters aluminum-center rear end has been refreshed and is fitted with 4.10 gears. Numerous new parts and spares are present, including the following: New fuel cell New Weaver 5-Stage dry sump pump New axles and new driveshaft with oversized U-Joints New custom-valved Penske double-adjustable shocks Two sway bar and spring setups for medium and high speed tracks New front A-Arms with jig New collapsible steering column New battery 8 restored BBS wheels measuring 16″x13″ and 16″x14″ with four BBS wheel fans New set of Goodyear slicks measuring 25.0×13.0-16, 27.0×14.0-16 All new sphericals, and all bolts safety-wired Spare front plenum and radiator mount The dyno sheet for the current engine configuration is above.
