This 1989 Chevrolet Camaro is a tube-frame race car built for participation in SCCA GT1 racing. Formerly driven by Max Lagod, the car was acquired in 2010 by the current owner, who subsequently refurbished the chassis, suspension, and engine. The 358ci V8 produces about 800 horsepower and is paired with a Jerico 5-speed transmission and a Ford 9″ rear end. Brembo brakes are equipped all around, and the car also features stainless steel headers, transmission and diff coolers, Penske 3-way adjustable shocks, and much more as described in the listing below. Recent maintenance included changing the fluids, and the car has been raced three times a year since the refresh was completed, including a number of podium finishes. This former GT1 racer is now being offered by the current owner’s son on a bill of sale with three sets of wheels, spares, an SCCA logbook, and records for the refurbishment. The car was re-bodied at some point to resemble a newer Camaro, and the panels are finished in a yellow and blue livery over a red tube frame. Aerodynamics include front canards and an adjustable rear wing. The frame was powder coated during the 2010 refurbishment. Penske 3-way adjustable shock absorbers are equipped along with adjustable sway bars, and braking is handled by full floating Brembo brakes at each corner. The aluminum wheels wear Hoosier slicks, and three total sets of wheels are included in the sale. The carbon fiber dash features a set Pro Comp gauges, including a central tachometer with a shift light. The OMP single-piece racing seat is equipped with a Simpson harness, and the interior also features a flat-bottom Momo steering wheel, a fire suppression system, and a row of switches to the right of the driver. The sway bars are adjustable from the cockpit. The 358ci V8 was rebuilt by Advanced Engine Concepts of Green Lake, Wisconsin and produces approximately 800 horsepower and 600 lb-ft of torque. Power is routed through a Jerico 5-speed and a Ford 9″ rear end. MSD ignition is equipped along with a pair of stainless steel headers and coolers for the gearbox and rear end. Per the seller, the car has seen no track use since the new engine was installed. A fuel cell is fitted to the rear of the tube chassis and feeds the engine through braided hoses with AN fittings. Several spare parts will accompany the sale, including three sets of wheels, new front and rear rotors, a set of Hawk brake pads, rear axles, and assorted belts and hoses. According to the seller, the car is raced three times a year at Road America and history includes podium finishes in Group 10 at Road America in 2014 and 2015.
