This 1989 Volkswagen Vanagon Westfalia Syncro was with the original owner in Boulder, Colorado for about a decade before it was passed to the Arizona-based second owner for the following six years. Finished in Pastel White over a grey cloth interior, this Vanagon was acquired by the seller 13 years ago and has been modified by GoWesty of Los Osos, California with a suspension lift, a solid-shaft conversion with front decoupler, a front diff lock, and more as described below. Power is provided by a GoWesty 2.45L flat-four that was installed in 2008 and rebuilt in May 2018. The 4-speed manual transaxle features an additional super-low gear, as well as taller 3rd and 4th gears and oil cooling plates. This Vanagon is now being offered with 13 years of records, the factory manuals, and a clean Oregon title in the seller’s name. The exterior is finished in Pastel White and features GoWesty bed liner material that was added on the lower body in 2008. The seller notes that the front fascia has been repainted due to rock chips, with the factory Syncro decals reapplied following the paintwork. Black GoWesty bumpers with 2″ hitch receivers have been mounted along with VW/Westfalia tow-package wiring. The 14″ 5-spoke alloy wheels are currently mounted with a set of 27×8.5″ tires that have seen less than 2k miles of use The interior is trimmed in grey cloth and is equipped with power windows, power mirrors, power door locks, and functional air conditioning. Approximately 237,100 miles are currently shown on the 6-digit odometer. Note that the front passenger seat can be rotated to face backward, and a Pioneer head unit has been added. The rear passenger cabin features a factory camper setup with a refrigerator delete kit, an Espar Airtronic heater, and both factory tables/legs. Additionally, a 44AH battery, Westfalia battery charger, rear-facing jump seat mount, and a power inverter have been added along with a new Westfalia 3-window canvas top and a child sleeping hammock. Power is provided by a GoWesty 2.45L flat-four that was installed circa 2008 and was subsequently rebuilt by GoWesty in May 2018. The 4-speed manual transaxle was rebuilt by AA Transaxle in 2009 with a taller 3rd and 4th gear in addition to oil cooling plates. Not that both the front and rear differentials have lockers and the front driveline is fitted with a decoupler/solid driveshaft. A Tristar Syncro spare tire carrier/skid plate is present under the vehicle, and the 2″ GoWesty lift springs and Old Man Emu shocks were installed by GoWesty prior to the seller ‘s ownership. A number of undercarriage photos can be viewed in the gallery. The sale also includes trailer wiring, two stereo remotes, the factory manuals and keys, and service records from the seller’s ownership. Filed under: vw
