This 1995 Lola T96/70 was constructed for the Mexican Formula 3000 race series. It is based on a Lola T96/50 international Formula 3000 series race car and utilizes a monocoque chassis, with power supplied by a fuel-injected 3.5-liter Chrysler V6 mated to a 5-speed sequential transaxle. With a full tank of fuel weight is reported to be approximately 1,500 lbs, and output is said to be 290 horsepower at the rear wheels. Since acquiring the car four years ago from a member of the Canadian Motorsport Hall of Fame, the seller has participated and won multiple VARAC Vintage Grand Prix events. Approximately three hours of track time have been added since the last service, which included an engine rebuild. This Lola is now being offered in Ottawa, Canada on a bill of sale with a spares package, accessories, and a current logbook. The custom livery was inspired by the “colored block” scheme first seen on the 1988 Benetton Ford Formula One car. Like the T96/50 developed for international F3000, the T96/70 utilizes a raised nose, lateral F1-style head protection, and an adjustable 3-element rear wing. The monocoque tub is made from carbon fiber/aluminum honeycomb composite. The OZ-Racing/Lola wheels are currently wrapped in a set of Pirelli P-Zero racing slicks, which have reportedly been through four heat cycles. Photos of the inboard pushrod suspension have been provided in the gallery below. The cockpit is reportedly large enough to accommodate drivers 6’ 2” in height and approximately 220 lbs in weight. Instrumentation includes a Pi Research digital display, and a fire suppression system remains installed. According to the seller, the 3.5-liter Chrysler V6 is similar to what was used in the Buick Indy Light Series and is set up to run on C12 racing fuel. It comes equipped with slide-injection and an unbaffled exhaust. Both the engine and 5-speed sequential gearbox are stressed members of the frame. A reported three hours of track time have been added since the last rebuild. In addition to the trailering wheels, a jack and starter booster pack are included with the sale. A transponder and current logbook also accompany the car. Extra brake rotors, gearsets, control arms, shock springs, and various electronics are contained in the included spares package.
