This 1999 Shelby Series 1 is #152 of 249 examples produced by Shelby American. It was registered in Florida and New Jersey, reportedly remaining in a Series 1 collection before it was purchased by the seller in 2022 and listed on BaT in May 2023. The composite bodywork is finished in Centennial Silver Metallic over black and gray leather upholstery, and power comes from an Oldsmobile-based quad-cam 4.0L V8 paired with a six-speed manual transaxle. Equipment includes a black soft top, an aluminum chassis, pushrod suspension, 18″ three-piece wheels, Borla mufflers, heated mirrors, air conditioning, and a Delco Monsoon CD/cassette stereo. This Shelby Series 1 has 7,600 miles and is now offered in Naples, Florida, with a clean Montana title in the name of the seller’s LLC. The Series 1 was designed from scratch by Shelby American and was manufactured at the company’s facility in Las Vegas, Nevada. The aluminum chassis is paired with carbon-fiber and fiberglass laminate bodywork, which is finished in Centennial Silver Metallic on this example. Exterior equipment includes a black soft top in addition to front fog lamps, a front-hinged heat extractor hood, fender vents, heated side-view mirrors, a Le Mans-style fuel filler, and a dual-outlet Borla exhaust. The three-piece 18″ five-spoke wheels wear Shelby center caps and are mounted with older front 265/40 Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercar tires as well as 315/40 Nitto N1 rear rubber. The Shelby Series 1 features pushrod suspension with inboard-mounted coilovers and remote reservoir dampers. Braking is provided by Shelby-branded four-piston calipers mounted over vented discs at all four corners. The twin Cerullo bucket seats are upholstered in black and gray leather and feature Carroll Shelby signatures embroidered on the backrests. Additional interior appointments include a carbon-fiber shift knob, power windows, Shelby-branded floor mats, a CD stereo, a Monsoon sound system, and air conditioning. Separation of the dash from the center stack and wear on the driver’s door panel are noted. The four-spoke steering wheel frames a Shelby-branded instrument panel housing a 170-mph speedometer, a tachometer with a 6,500-rpm redline, and auxiliary gauges. The digital odometer shows 7,600 miles, 250 of which were added under current ownership. A serialized plaque showing serial number CSX5152 is affixed to the dash. The Oldsmobile-sourced 4.0-liter Aurora L47 V8 features carbon-fiber covers and intake tubing, Borla stainless-steel headers and twin mufflers, and a Shelby-specific engine management system and camshafts. The engine was factory rated at 320 horsepower and 290 lb-ft of torque. A tune-up was performed prior to the seller taking delivery of the car, and the battery was replaced in spring 2023. Power is routed to the rear wheels through a six-speed manual transaxle made specifically for the Series 1 by RBT with ZF components. The Carfax report shows no accidents or other damage.
