This 2001 Porsche 911 Turbo coupe was acquired by the current owner in 2010 and subsequently modified for SCCA GT1 class competition via the use of aftermarket body panels finished in Arctic Silver Metallic, a carbon-fiber rear wing sourced from a 996 Cup car, Lexan windows, three-piece 18″ BBS wheels, a stripped interior with a single Sparco racing seat, a fire suppression system with cockpit and exterior discharge switches, and a carbon-fiber dashboard fitted with a Motorola race radio. A 3.6-liter flat-six equipped with a pair of K16 turbochargers and a unique performance tune drives the rear wheels via a six-speed manual transaxle with a Guard Transmission Pro limited-slip differential, and the car is further equipped with an air jack system, Porsche Motorsport suspension components, red six- and four-piston brake calipers fitted over two-piece GiroDisc rotors, a MOMO steering wheel, a MoTeC 5″ color display with a data logger, and a Fuel Safe fuel cell with a filler neck located in the center of the hood. This 996 Turbo race car is now offered by the seller on behalf of the current owner in Washington State with a DME report, an SCCA log book, partial service records totaling over $33k, and a clean Oregon title in the owner’s name. The car’s Arctic Silver Metallic (92U) exterior has been fitted with a fiberglass rear decklid and carbon-fiber rear wing sourced from a 996 Cup car as well as a two-piece front spoiler, front canards, and side skirts from Joe Toth Composites. Tarrett Engineering tow hooks are fitted front and rear, and other exterior details include a sunroof delete, a single cup style windshield wiper arm, GT2 front bumper ducting with aftermarket screens, and projector-style headlights with black housings as well as hood pins, decklid pins, and side mirrors from Porsche Motorsport. Lexan rear and quarter panel windows, Manthey-Racing intercooler ducts, and a Cartek Motorsport Electronic rear rain light round out the list of features. The Carfax report lists damage to the left side and rear left in July 2009, and cracks in the side skirts are shown up close in the gallery below. Polished BBS 18″ E88 three-piece wheels are secured via Tarrett Engineering studs and wrapped in Hoosier racing slicks measuring 255/35 up front and 335/30 out back. Six-piston front brake calipers sourced from a 996 GT2 and rear four-piston units taken from a 997 Turbo are finished in red, equipped with Carbotech XP12 pads, and fitted with Tarrett Engineering speed bleeders. Slotted two-piece GiroDisc rotors measuring 350mm are fitted at each corner, and additional modifications consist of a Porsche Motorsport anti-lock braking system from a 996 Cup car as well as fender liners, brake ducts, and a brake cylinder from a 996 GT2. The race-prepped cockpit is home to a pair of window nets and a single Sparco Circuit II racing seat with head restraints and provisions for a Scroth Racing five-point harness. A tank for the fire suppression system is located in the passenger footwell while an AiM Smartycam is fastened to the welded, painted, and SCCA-certified Racetech Motorsport roll cage with integrated door bars. Door panels from a 996 Cup car, Porsche-branded metal pedal covers, an AUTO BLiP downshift module, a wide-angle rearview mirror, and a fuel cell wiring harness from Cantrell Motorsport are additional appointments. A microsuede-wrapped MOMO 996 Cup steering wheel with a yellow center marker is mounted to a Rothsport Racing quick-release hub and sits ahead of a Kelly Moss Racing 996 RSR carbon-fiber dashboard, which houses electrical shutoff switches as well as a Motorola two-way radio with push-to-talk capability. A MoTeC Shift Light Module (SLM) is mounted above a MoTeC C125 5″ color display with a data logger, GPS communication, and sensors to monitor fuel and brake pressure. No odometer is present, therefore total mileage is unknown. A Fuel Safe fuel cell with a filler neck located in the center of the hood has been added to the front trunk, and fuel lines from a 996 Cup are also said to be installed. The KRONTEC air jack system, installed by Cantrell Motorsports, consists of a single jack up front, two jacks at the rear, and a connector located near the windshield cowl. The 3.6-liter Mezger flat-six is fitted with a pair of K16 turbochargers that have ceramic-coated turbine housings, a 3″ stainless-steel exhaust system with an X-pipe, 630cc fuel injectors, and a unique performance tune for 92 octane fuel. Additional performance modifications consist of the following: Revised intercoolers from Extreme Turbo Systems (ETS) Porsche Motorsport 996 Cup fuel pump and filter setup Porsche Motorsport electric power steering Porsche Motorsport air conditioning and power steering pump delete belt Ported and ceramic-coated headers from a 996 Turbo Coil packs and Denso spark plugs from a 997 Turbo Rothsport Racing secondary air injection (SAI) delete Three CSF Race radiators Rothsport Racing welded coolant lines Porsche 964RS motor mounts The seller notes that the water pump, alternator, and various hoses and seals have been replaced under current ownership while work in October 2023 consisted of changing the engine oil, brake fluid, and transmission fluid. A DME report is provided in the gallery. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a lightweight flywheel and 240mm race clutch that work in conjunction with a six-speed manual transaxle that has been fitted with a Guard Transmission Professional limited-slip differential. The shifter, cables, and gear selector are from a 996 Cup car while the 997 Turbo-sourced transmission mount has an aftermarket insert. Three-way adjustable coilovers with remote reservoirs from Motion Control Systems headline the list of suspension modifications, which includes a Porsche Motorsport 996 RSR front subframe, front uprights from a 996 Cup car, a mix of Porsche Motorsport and Tarrett Engineering control arms, 996 GT2 sway bars, Tarrett Engineering drop links, and Torque Solutions solid rear subframe bushings. Setup was performed by Cantrell Motorsports. The Carfax report shows the aforementioned damage report in July 2009 and lists history in Nevada, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Illinois, Washington State, California, and Oregon. The listed lien was released in December 2015. Filed under: 996, 996 turbo, nsb
