This 2008 Subaru Impreza WRX STi is one of two vehicles converted into race cars by the factory backed Subaru Road Race Team (SRRT) when new. This example competed in the IMSA Continential Tire Sports Car Challenge GS class for the 2010 season and was purchased directly from SRRT by seller Greg Georgiadis in 2013. It has since been used in the Targa Newfoundland, US Vintage Grand Prix, and various open track days. The car is finished in a red and white race livery and powered by a modified 2.5L turbo flat-four mated to a 6-speed manual transmission. Numerous updates to the original build were performed in 2016 as detailed below, and detailed history from the development are included in the sale. This WRX STi racer is described as being ready to run and is offered with a clean New York title in the seller’s name. The exterior features red paint with white vinyl mimicking the look used during IMSA competition, and a wrinkled fender is the only major flaw noted by the seller. The car wears New York plates, has been occasionally street driven to car shows and rally transit stages. The rear windows have been converted to plexiglass that was cut via waterjet. Multiple vents have been installed, and the OEM rear windows are included in the sale. The front windows are capable of being installed or removed in a few minutes. Other exterior modifications include a custom skid plate and four jack points that have been integrated to the frame/roll cage. All exterior lighting is functional, and a set of Hella Supertone horns are installed. The car is currently fitted with black CCW wheels mounted with 275/35/18 Hoosier R7s. An additional set of Continential slicks and a spare set of 17″ wheels with Toyo R1Rs are included in the sale. The interior has been fully gutted and features a multi-point roll cage, Cobra race seats, and Schroth harnesses. A spare tire and jack mount has been integrated into the roll cage alongside a custom aluminum felt-lined helmet box for rally use. A custom AN threaded box is included that will bolt to the interior of the car and can be used as an oil catch or dry sump system. Both boxes can be installed or removed in minutes with a few bolts. An AIM MXL Pisa dash is fitted along with a Sparco steering wheel, and a custom aluminum floor has been created for both the driver and passenger footwells. The factory pedals have been drilled and modified to change the placement, and a footswitch is present in the passenger footwell for hands-free operation of a rally computer. Multiple 12v USB plugs are present for various camera mounts. The seller reports that the car has 8,647 miles. The dash features push breakers instead of fuses, and the fire system was inspected and re-certified in 2016. The factory SI button is functional but has been converted to change the tune of the car depending on which setting is selected. A Peltor intercom system is installed, and the seller is including two Peltor helmets with headsets. The rear of the interior features a fuel cell that received new foam in 2016. A full firewall is present to separate the cell from the passenger compartment, and a custom fuel filler set up that bolts to the rear firewall has been created to allow the use of standard gas pump nozzles. Power comes from a turbocharged 2.5L flat-four that utilizes forged internals, custom headgaskets, a Ron Davis radiator with integrated oil cooler, and a water cooled Tial MVR 44mm wastegate. The engine received many additional upgrades in 2016 to allow for more flexible tuning, including an FP Green turbo, Injector Dynamics ID 1000 injectors, an updated fuel pressure regulator, Bosch fuel pump, Cobb fuel pressure sensor kit, and Grimmspeed ceramic coated EWG uppipe/downpipe. The car has multiple tunes that can be selected using the SI button as mentioned above, the most powerful of which sends 379 hp to all four wheels. The 6-speed manual transmission and clutch were rebuilt after the 2013 Targa Newfoundland and three stage traction control is present alongside the factory ABS system. Numerous spares include custom transmission and rear differential coolers, two front bumpers, four spare axles, the OEM suspension, exhaust, and wheel well liners, and various wheel/tire setups as detailed above. Documentation detailing the history and set up of the car is included in the sale and can be seen in the gallery along with various race results and photos of the car on track.
