This Chevrolet Impala is a NASCAR race car that was campaigned by Hendrick Motorsports in the 2010 NASCAR Sprint Cup season, during which it was piloted by Jeff Gordon. Following a shop change between seasons, the car was driven in the 2011 NASCAR season by Dale Earnhardt Jr., after which the chassis was retired. Hendrick Motorsports later rebuilt the car to be sold, and it was acquired by the current owner in December 2016. Finished in a white and blue National Guard livery, the car is equipped with a 358ci R07 V8 linked to a four-speed manual transmission and a solid rear axle. The stripped interior features an integrated roll cage, a carbon-fiber-backed bucket seat with a Schroth Racing harness, a fire-suppression system, and a Momo steering wheel. Other equipment includes a fuel cell, an aluminum radiator, a dry-sump oil system, disc brakes, and 15″ wheels with Goodyear slicks. This NASCAR chassis is now offered in Arizona with certificates of authenticity from Hendrick Motorsports and a bill of sale. The car features a body styled after a 2010 Chevrolet Impala, which is laid over a Car of Tomorrow chassis with steel tube-frame members. The blue and white National Guard livery was redone as campaigned in the 2011 NASCAR season, and other sponsor logos, Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s scripted name, and #88 are present around the car. Black-finished 15″ Aero wheels are mounted with Goodyear Eagle tires. Various markings are present on the tires, and a temperature label is affixed to one of the wheels. The interior features an integrated roll cage and a carbon-fiber-backed bucket seat that was manufactured in September 2012; the Schroth Racing harness was manufactured in June 2012. Other equipment includes a Hurst shifter, a carbon-fiber throttle-pedal pad, AP Racing clutch and brake pedals, a cabin-mounted MSD ignition box, a fire-suppression system, and various ducting and wiring. A Momo steering wheel with wear in the Alcantara rim sits ahead of a custom dashboard with an array of driver switchgear and a kill switch. AutoMeter instrumentation includes a centrally located 10k-rpm tachometer and six auxiliary gauges. The car is not equipped with a speedometer or an odometer, and it has not been driven by the seller. A fuel cell is positioned in the trunk, nestled within the cage. A Hendrick Motorsports certificate indicates that the 358ci R07 pushrod V8 was maintained by the racing team and was utilized by its drivers in NASCAR competition from 2010 through 2013. The block was then installed in this car, chassis 88-616. The engine was last started in summer 2021. Power is delivered to the wheels through a four-speed manual transmission and a solid rear axle. Certificates from Hendrick Motorsports dated May 9, 2017 will accompany the car. The first certificate indicates that it was raced by Jeff Gordon in 2010 and Dale Earnhardt Jr. in 2011, after which it was rebuilt by Hendrick Motorsports. The car was raced at New Hampshire Motor Speedway and at Martinsville Speedway, and its best finish in a race was fourth place.
