Make: Chevrolet
Model: Chevrolet Monte Carlo

This Chevrolet Monte Carlo is a NASCAR racer that was reportedly built by Hendrick Motorsports in the late 1990s for research and development purposes and was later used as a pit stop practice car to raise funds for the Hendrick Marrow Program before being placed in storage for a number of years. A refurbishment was subsequently carried out by Rhine Enterprise of Denver, North Carolina between 2019 and 2021 that included a repaint in red along with refreshes of the brakes, suspension, and 358ci V8. Additional equipment includes a Jerico four-speed manual transmission, full roll cage with door bars, a fixed-back bucket seat with Simpson harnesses, a trunk-mounted fuel cell, four-wheel disc brakes, and Aero wheels with Goodyear slicks. This NASCAR racer was acquired by the seller around two years ago and is now offered in Wincoma, New York with photos from the refurbishment and a bill of sale. Previously finished in silver and blue, the Monte Carlo-style body underwent repairs around the nose and received additional bodywork prior to a repaint in its current shade of red during the late 2010s. The windshield and Lexan side windows have been replaced, and exterior details include a #24 DuPont livery, various sponsorship stickers, an adjustable rear spoiler, and hood pins. Black-finished Aero wheels feature yellow pinstripes and are mounted with Goodyear Eagle slicks. Braking is through four-wheel discs with Wilwood calipers and ventilated rotors up front. Work during the refurbishment is said to have included rebuilds of the shocks and replacement of the springs, brake lines, brake fittings, and hoses. The seller notes that the car was built with the shock absorbers mounted outside of the frame rails as part of its use as a research and development vehicle. The cabin houses a full roll cage with door bars as well as a Richardson Racing Products fixed-back bucket seat with Simpson multi-point harnesses. Additional features include a window net, a Hurst shifter, and dual MSD ignition boxes mounted to the driver’s right. Seam separation is present around the headrest of the seat. A three-spoke steering wheel with a quick-release and a center pad sits ahead of AutoMeter Pro-Comp instrumentation that includes a 10k-rpm tachometer and auxiliary gauges. The 358ci V8 was reportedly built by Hendrick Motorsports and refreshed by Collins Engine Works in Denver, North Carolina during the refurbishment. The engine is topped with a Holley carburetor and features a 22-gallon fuel cell mounted in the trunk. The seller notes that the wiring and fuel pump have also been replaced. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a Jerico four-speed manual transmission and a differential with 3.82:1 gearing. According to the seller, the transmission was rebuilt and the clutch and driveshaft replaced during the aforementioned work. The car was reportedly built with a stiffened chassis and raised floor pans by Hendrick Motorsports. Additional underbody images are provided in the gallery below. A number of photos taken prior to and during various stages of the refurbishment can also be seen in the gallery.
