This Devin-bodied Triumph is a fiberglass-bodied race car that was initially built on a TR2 chassis in 1954. The body was placed on a 1958 TR3 chassis in the 1970s, and a race-prepped Triumph 2,213cc inline-four was installed in 1997. A subsequent refurbishment was completed in 2005, and the car competed in various racing events in 2005 and 2006. It is finished in two-tone red and yellow over dark blue leather upholstery, and equipment includes a TR2 four-speed manual transmission, 15″ wire wheels, roll hoops, dual carburetors, electronic ignition, and a fuel cell. This Devin-Triumph race car was recently acquired by the selling dealer and is now offered in New York with a history log, old photos, period literature, a build schematic, an SVRA log book, service records, and Connecticut registration listing the car as a 1954 Triumph Devin. The fiberglass body was built by California-based Devin Enterprises, which offered its roadster-style design in several size configurations to fit various chassis. This example was originally finished in white, and it was stripped, reinforced, and painted red with a yellow over-the-top stripe in 1997. Exterior details include white number decals, hood pins, dual side mirrors, a modified TR3 windshield, and a racing-style fuel cap. Dayton 15″ wire wheels feature two-ear knock-off hubs and wear Dunlop Racing tires. Equipment is said to include front TR2 upper and lower A-arms with adjustable dampers along with TR2-sourced rear leaf springs and lever dampers. Stopping power is provided by front discs and rear drums. Work performed in November 2014 included replacement of the front coil springs and lower control arm bolts. The cabin features bucket seats upholstered in dark blue leather with white piping, which is complemented by color-coordinated diamond-stitched door panels and trim. Equipment includes G-Force Racing Gear Pro Series harnesses, a center-mounted fire extinguisher, dual roll hoops, and a dash-mounted rearview mirror. The wood-rimmed steering wheel is mounted with a Heuer Monte Carlo stopwatch and frames instrumentation consisting of a 120-mph speedometer and a 6k-rpm tachometer, while gauges for oil pressure, water temperature, voltage, and fuel level are located in the center of the dashboard. The five-digit odometer displays approximately 3,100 miles, and total mileage is unknown. The replacement 2,213cci inline-four was sourced from a TR3 and installed in 1997. Modifications reportedly include JE pistons, stainless steel valves, roller rockers, MSD electronic ignition, a balanced and forged crankshaft, a race-ground camshaft, and a 12-gallon fuel cell. An oil change was performed in preparation for the sale. A spare exhaust system is included in the sale, according to the selling dealer. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a TR2 four-speed manual transmission and a 3.70:1 open differential. Historical photos, period literature, a build schematic, and an SVRA log book are included in the sale. A history log and recent service records are also included. The car does not have a title, as it is registered in a state that does not issue titles for a vehicle of its age. It is being sold on its registration.
