This Dodge Avenger race car was driven in International Race of Champions (IROC) competition during the 1993 through 1995 seasons and subsequently used as a promotional vehicle in the Marlboro Racing Experience. The car rides on a tube-frame chassis and has been fitted with partial bodywork finished in red and white. Power comes from a 355ci V8 joined to a four-speed manual transmission and a quick-change rear differential. Additional equipment includes a single racing seat, AutoMeter instrumentation, MSD electronic ignition, a Hurst shifter, a fuel cell, four-wheel disc brakes, and 15” wheels with Goodyear racing slicks. This running IROC display car is now offered in Indianapolis, Indiana, with a removed set of complete body panels, spare parts, an IROC logbook, and a bill of sale. The tube-frame chassis is said to have been built by Banjo’s Performance Center in Arden, North Carolina, and partial bodywork finished in a red and white livery has been fitted to the right side of the vehicle. Portions of the body panels have been cut away to reveal structural and mechanical components on the left side of the engine compartment, cockpit, and trunk area. Decals for sponsors including True Value, Dodge, Mopar Performance, Goodyear, and Bosch as well as #8 racing numbers are affixed to the car. Silver-finished 15” wheels are mounted with Goodyear Eagle yellow-letter racing slicks, which the seller recommends replacing. Stopping power is provided by four-wheel disc brakes. The left-front shock absorber is said to have been modified to exhibit its inner workings. The cockpit features a single racing seat with a Simpson harness. Other equipment includes an integrated roll cage, a removable driver-side window net, “Avenger” dashboard lettering, a toggle-switch control panel, and a Hurst shifter topped with a cue-ball-style knob. The three-spoke steering wheel is mounted to a quick-release hub and has a padded center. AutoMeter gauges located in the center of the dash monitor oil pressure, coolant temperature, oil temperature, voltage, and fuel pressure. The car is not equipped with an odometer, and total mileage is unknown. The 355ci Dodge V8 is equipped with a four-barrel carburetor and has “020” serial-number markings in various locations. The left valve cover and the oil tank have been fitted with transparent windows to provide views of internal components. An MSD electronic ignition system is positioned in the right-side footwell. The seller states that the most recent oil change was performed in April 2022, and the fuel cell may require replacement. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission and a quick-change differential. Tubular headers flow into a crossover pipe and side-exit dual exhaust outlets. Additional underside photos are presented in the gallery below. A collection of removed body panels will accompany the car along with interior components and spare parts that can be viewed in the gallery. An IROC logbook with entries dating back to February 1993 is included in the sale. During the 1993 through 1995 IROC seasons, the #8 car was driven in eight races by various drivers, namely Ricky Rudd, Dale Earnhardt, Davy Jones, Al Unser Jr., Geoff Brabham (twice), Kyle Petty, and Steve Kinser. The car’s top finish was second place, which occurred at Daytona International Speedway in February 1994 with Unser driving. The chassis number is pictured above. The car lacks a standard 17-digit VIN, is not legal for road use, has not been registered for the street, and carries no title or registration. It is being sold on a bill of sale.
