This Ford Escort RS Cosworth rally car has been with the seller for 15 years and was built in 2003 using a seam-welded Ford Motorsports shell. Power comes from a turbocharged YBT 2.0L inline-four with custom cams, a GT30 ball bearing turbo, ARP studs, Autronic SM4 engine management, and an aluminum radiator. Power is sent to all four wheels through a Quaife “big tooth” 5-speed manual gearbox with straight-cut gears, and other modifications include lightweight suspension components, a 20-gallon fuel cell, Group A steering rack, OZ Tarmac wheels, Morette headlamp assemblies, Wilwood brakes, and more as detailed below. The car has seen several hours of break-in and tuning time on a dyno since completion of the build, as well as about 50 miles on track. Per the seller, the car is serviced annually and has not been used in competition. This Escort is now being offered on a bill of sale in Harper, Texas with a binder of build specifications. A seam-welded Ford Motorsports shell was utilized for this build and has been fitted with a full roll cage. A pair of Morette headlamps were also added, along with a set of OZ Tarmac wheels, roof vents, and a genuine upper Cosworth rear spoiler. The racing livery is a tribute to the 1992 Hadrian Centurian Rally winner. The car features a lightweight fully-adjustable suspension, top-mounted camber plates, and a Group A steering rack. The cabin includes an on-board Halon fire suppression system, and the Wilwood brakes feature cockpit balance adjustments, as well as a custom hand brake lever. A single piece driveshaft, front differential girdle plate, and a Quaife “big tooth” gearbox send power to a ceramic clutch. A 20-gallon Fuel Safe racing cell is fitted in the hatch area and feeds the engine through braided hoses with AN fittings. The YBT Red-Top 2.0L inline-four has been modified using a 3″ side-exit exhaust, a wire-ring head, custom cams, a GT30 water-cooled ball bearing turbo, an aluminum radiator, WRC-style intercooler, as well as APR studs and bolts. Engine management is through an Autronic SM4 system. The engine is said to be conservatively tuned, and a dyno run reportedly produced 500hp and 410 lb-ft of torque at 26 pounds of boost. Per the seller, the car has approximately 50 total track miles since the build was completed. A few additional photos of the underbody and suspension can be seen below.
