This Ford Cortina is an Mk1 example that was converted for racing use under prior ownership and is said to have been previously owned and campaigned in Historic Sportscar Racing events by AC/DC singer Brian Johnson. The car is finished in white with a green stripe and racing livery, and power is from a replacement 1.8-liter Lotus twin-cam inline-four paired with a four-speed manual transmission. Equipment includes 13″ alloy wheels, a Recaro racing seat, a MOMO removable steering wheel, a roll cage, Weber carburetors, an ATL fuel cell, plexiglass windows, and a fire suppression system. This Cortina was acquired by the current owner in 2021 and is now offered at no reserve by the seller on behalf of the owner with build photos, service records, spare parts, and a bill of sale. All proceeds from the sale, including the buyer’s fee, will go to Kart 4 Kids, a 501(c)(3) organization that benefits Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital in St. Petersburg, Florida. The car is finished in white with a green stripe and racing livery that includes the AC/DC logo, the De Luca Racing script, and number 3 roundels on the hood, sides, and decklid. The rocker panels are dented, the paint is cracked behind the left-rear wheel, and bubbling is visible behind the right-rear wheel. Minilite-style 13″ alloy wheels are wrapped in 225/45 Toyo Proxes R888 tires that show 2017 production dates codes. Stopping power is from front discs and rear drums, and the lowered suspension is equipped with a front sway bar and a rear multi-link setup. Service in 2020 included installing camber plates and replacing the front lower ball joints. Additional equipment consists of a driver-side window net, a remote shifter mount, hooded toggle switches, an electrical cut-off switch, and a FireSense fire suppression system. The three-spoke MOMO steering wheel is mounted on a quick-release hub and sits ahead of Pro-Comp instrumentation including a 10k-rpm tachometer as well as gauges for oil pressure, oil temperature, and coolant temperature. The car is not equipped with an odometer, therefore total mileage is unknown. Additional included items consist of service records, spare parts, a Braille 10-amp battery charger, and build photos. A seller-supplied list of included spare parts can be viewed in the gallery below. The seller states that they cannot locate a VIN on the chassis. The car is being sold on a bill of sale and does not have a title or registration, as it is not intended for road use. Upon completion of the auction, the winning bidder will pay the seller, who will then donate the total sale amount to Kart 4 Kids, a 501(c)(3) organization.
