This replica of a 1955 Mercedes-Benz 300 SLR is said to be one of three examples built by Scuderia Bucci of Argentina in 2001. It was acquired by the selling dealer from Scuderia Bucci in November 2007 and subsequently imported to Belgium in March 2008. The car features aluminum bodywork finished in silver over a tubular steel frame, and power comes from a fuel-injected 3.0L inline-six paired with a four-speed manual transmission. Features include a double-wishbone front suspension, four-wheel finned drum brakes, an aluminum fuel tank, wire wheels, fixed-back seats with plaid cloth upholstery, a gated shifter, and a four-spoke wood-rimmed steering wheel. This Scuderia Bucci 300 SLR replica is now offered in Sint-Truiden, Belgium, with a sales invoice from Scuderia Bucci, FIA documentation, and Belgian registration that lists the car as a Mercedes with a first registration date in 1953. Scuderia Bucci was formed by Argentine Formula One driver Clemar Bucci following his retirement from racing. Three 300 SLR replicas are said to have been constructed by his firm in 2001, reportedly with assistance from Mercedes-Benz. The car features silver aluminum bodywork fitted over a molybdenum steel tubular chassis. Equipment includes dual helmet fairings, a plexiglass windscreen, side cooling ducts, and covered headlights. The painted wire wheels are mounted with three-eared knock-off hubs and 6.00-16 Pirelli bias-ply tires. The suspension features a double-wishbone front setup with adjustable shocks at all four corners. Stopping power is from servo-boosted four-wheel finned drums. An aluminum fuel tank is fitted. The cockpit features fixed-back seats trimmed in plaid cloth as well as black carpets, a locking glovebox, a dash-mounted mirror with an acrylic base, a gated shifter, and a handbrake lever mounted between the seats. The four-spoke wood-rimmed steering wheel pivots downward on its hub to allow extra room for entry and exit. It fronts an 11,000-rpm tachometer as well as gauges for fuel level, water temperature, and fuel level. No speedometer or odometer is present, and total mileage is unknown. The inline-six is listed as a 2,996cc unit on the car’s FIA Historic Passport and is noted by the selling dealer to have been sourced from a 1950s-era Mercedes-Benz. It is fitted with Bosch fuel injection and is canted in the engine bay. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a four-speed manual gearbox said to be mounted rearward in the chassis and that is concealed by an aluminum panel. The FIA historic passport is dated from 2019. A sales invoice from Scuderia Bucci dated March 2008 can be seen in the gallery.
