This 1957 International Harvester Metro was partially built into a mobile beverage vendor under prior ownership, and it is powered by an inline-six paired with a three-speed manual transmission. A concession window has been added on one side, and the interior has been outfitted with a stainless-steel cabinet, prep tables, and sinks as well as air conditioning and diamond-plate floors. Finished in blue and white, the van is further equipped with a single driver’s seat, sliding front doors, rear barn doors, 16″ chrome wheels, and adjustable rear air springs. Acquired by the selling dealer in 2024, this Metro step van is now offered with a clean Florida title. Penned by Raymond Loewy, the Metro featured a cab-over-engine design and was offered in various lengths and configurations. This example received rust repair before it was refinished in blue and white urethane paint with business graphics on both sides. A concession window was added to the right side, and additional details include a split windshield, sliding front doors, rear barn doors, a tow ball mount, and a rear fill panel with cut-out lettering. Chrome-finished 16″ steel wheels are mounted with 225/60 Mastercraft Stratus tires. The van rides on a 122″ wheelbase, and adjustable air-spring shocks have been added to the live rear axle. Braking is handled by hydraulic drums at all four corners. The forward cabin was repainted in white and features a single bucket seat trimmed in black. The three-spoke steering wheel wears an aftermarket cover and fronts a 90-mph speedometer and a combination gauge. The six-digit odometer shows 65 miles, and total mileage is unknown. Aluminum diamond-plate floors have been installed throughout the rear compartment, which houses a stainless-steel storage cabinet, prep tables, and sinks. The ductless mini-split air conditioning system is powered by the engine, and the condenser unit is mounted under the floor. The sinks have not been fitted with plumbing, and protective film remains in place. The carbureted inline-six sends power to the rear wheels through a three-speed manual transmission. Rust is visible on underbody components, which can be viewed in the gallery.
