1962 Volkswagen Bus

This 1962 Volkswagen Type 2 is a Deluxe 15 Window bus that was purchased by the seller in 2016 prior to a two-year body-off refurbishment and modification process completed 375 miles ago by Stratton Motor Sports of Winter Park, Florida. The body was repainted in Sea Blue over Cumulus White and new lighting was fitted in addition to fresh seals and a new interior with cherry wood floors. Power comes from a Wright Gearbox 2,180cc flat-four with 44 mm carburetors and is sent through a 4-speed Freeway Flyer transaxle. Additional alterations include Porsche Fuchs wheels, 4-wheel Porsche disc brakes, and more. This Bus is offered at no reserve with a clean Florida title in the seller’s name. Safari front windows were installed during the body restoration, and the seller reports that all six side windows are operational. Several in-process paint booth photos are provided in the gallery below. Suspension modifications include a 4″ narrowed beam setup with drop spindles. Porsche disc brakes were fitted at all four wheels along with staggered 15″ Fuchs wheels mounted with 155/60 Falken Ziex ZE912 front tires and 195/65 Kumho Solus KH16 rears. New cherry wood floors and paneling were added inside along with front bucket seats. The 5-digit odometer was reset during the refurbishment work and now shows 375 miles. Total chassis mileage is unknown. The middle-row seats were removed to allow for extra space, and rear seat belts were installed. A new tweed headliner and seat upholstery round out the cabin. The rear cargo area is depicted in the gallery below. The original engine has been replaced with a 2,180cc flat-four that was reportedly built by Wright Gearbox. It is paired with a Freeway Flyer 4-speed transaxle sending power to the rear wheels. Induction is from twin 44mm carburetors and a new wiring harness was installed during the process.
