This 1964 Volkswagen Type 2 camper was delivered new to Germany before being brought to California, were it was acquired by the seller approximately 32 years ago, reportedly from the original owner. The bus is finished in light blue with a pearlescent white upper section over gray fabric upholstery, and power is from a 1.5-liter flat-four paired with a four-speed manual transaxle. Features include a flip-seat front bench, a pop-up roof hatch, Baltic Spruce wood interior paneling, a dining table, storage cabinets, a Blaupunkt Frankfurt AM/FM radio with a 12-volt to 6-volt transformer, and steel wheels with chrome hubcaps. This Volkswagen bus is being offered with a shop manual, manufacturer’s literature, service records, and a clean California title in the seller’s name. The bus was reportedly repainted its current shade of light blue with a white upper section in 1992, and exterior details include a pop-up roof hatch, extended side mirrors, off–white bumpers with overriders, and dual side-entry doors. The seller notes that the driver-side rear corner of the bus was repaired following damage around 12 years ago, though the paint match is imperfect. One of the windows has been replaced, and a modern lock with a separate key has been installed on the rear side door. Various paint chips can be seen up close in the gallery below, along with areas of corrosion around the hinges. White-painted 14” steel wheels wear chrome hubcaps and are mounted with 185-width Yokohama tires. A full-size spare is found in the rear. The interior houses a reupholstered gray fabric flip-seat bench, which features a back that can be reversed to face the rear of the cabin. Striped upholstery covers the door panels, and details include sliding side windows, lap belts, a passenger-side grab handle, and a Blaupunkt Frankfurt push-button AM/FM radio with a 12-volt to 6-volt transformer. The heater and de-mister are said to operate but do not turn off. A two-spoke steering wheel sits ahead of a white-painted metal dashboard housing a VDO fuel level gauge and an 80-mph speedometer. The five-digit odometer has reportedly rolled over during current ownership and shows approximately 62k miles. The fuel level gauge is said to have been repaired in preparation for the sale. The rear of the cabin features Baltic Spruce wood paneling on the roof and sides, along with a removable dining table, a gray fabric-trimmed sofa and folding seat, storage cabinets, an overhead lamp, and gray flooring that is said to have been replaced during current ownership. The vehicle is equipped with an icebox, though the seller notes that it does not stay cold for very long. The 1.5-liter flat-four was rebuilt in 2005 and is equipped with a single carburetor, a K&N air filter, and a six-volt electrical system. A tune up was reportedly performed in preparation for the sale, and an oil leak is noted by the seller. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a four-speed manual transaxle. Corrosion is present on the underside, and additional photos are provided in the gallery below. The transmission linkage is said to have been adjusted in preparation for the sale.
