This 1965 Volkswagen Kombi is a Brazilian-market example that was acquired by the seller in 2015, refurbished in Brazil, and imported into the US in 2020. Work reportedly included repainting the van in two-tone green and white, reupholstering the seats in tan leather, installing a replacement 1.6-liter flat-four, rebuilding the four-speed manual transaxle, and more as described below. Equipment includes a split pop-out windshield, a retro-style Bluetooth stereo, and dual side mirrors. Service in April 2021 consisted of changing the oil and cleaning the carburetor. This Type 2 is now offered with import documents and a clean Florida title. The bus was reportedly media blasted prior to rust repair and a repaint in two-tone green and white. Exterior details include white bumpers with overriders, dual side mirrors, and bright bodyside trim. Close-up photos of the paintwork and body panels are provided in the gallery below. White-painted steel wheels wear chrome VW hubcaps and Pirelli Tornado Alfa tires. A matching spare is located behind the front seat. The suspension and drum brakes are said to have been replaced with aftermarket parts during the refurbishment, and the seller states that the steering box was rebuilt. The cabin was reupholstered in Brazil and features three rows of tan leather bench seats with perforated inserts. Matching door panels are fitted, and sound deadening material was applied to the floors before the replacement carpet was installed. Additional equipment includes a pop-out split windshield and a retro-style Bluetooth stereo connected to Hurricane speakers in the driver’s compartment and under the rear seat. The white two-spoke steering wheel sits ahead of a replacement 80-mph speedometer, a fuel level gauge, and an analog clock on the right side of the dashboard. The digital odometer shows 113 miles, which is said to represent the distance traveled since the refurbishment was completed. Total mileage is unknown. The replacement air-cooled 1.6L flat-four is said to have been installed during the refurbishment, and work performed in April 2021 reportedly included changing the oil and cleaning the carburetor. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transaxle. The transaxle was reportedly rebuilt prior to installation, and additional underside photos are presented in the gallery below.
