The S600 was ‘s first major production vehicle. The all-aluminum, twin-overhead-camshaft, four-cylinder units with roller bearings throughout was backed by a four-speed manual gearbox which sent power through a hypoid differential to the rear wheels via chain final drives for each wheel.
The S600 featured an independent front and rear suspension and offered rack-and-pinion steering. S600s left the factory with finned aluminum drum brakes and rode on 13-inch wheels.
The particular example of an S600 dster was purchased by an official er in in 2009 and spent a good part of its life in the dealer’s showroom prior to coming to the US. The S600 is a rare find and in LHD they are even rarer.
This older restoration still presents well. I would say a bit over driver quality. work is very good. The convertible top is the original and has quarter size slit that can be repaired. The seats are original and show their age. They can be restored or completely recovered. h the tonneau cover and boot cover are original and in good condition. The dash has a coupe of cracks that can be repaired. The lighter and a radio plate are missing. I will source at best offer price. all the original interior reflects a car that was garaged all or most its life.
This S600 received an engine swap to the larger 800cc engine from the S800 which was not uncommon back in the day. That meant the difference from 57 HP to 70 HP for a top speed of just under 100 mph versus 80 mph.
