This 1966 Volkswagen Type 2 Transporter is finished in blue and light grey and reportedly underwent a 2010 refurbishment prior to the seller’s purchase in 2016. The van is powered by a 1,915cc flat-four which was installed under previous ownership and is paired with a 4-speed manual transaxle. Pop-out Safari glass has been installed front and rear, with other modifications including front disc brakes and luggage racks. This Type 2 T1 Bus is located in Port Saint Lucie, Florida and offered with an owner’s manual and a clean Puerto Rico title in the seller’s name. The body is said to have been repainted in 2010, and the condition of the resulting light grey over blue finish can be seen in the photo gallery below. A dent is noted on the passenger-side rear quarter near the bumper. The Bus was reportedly kept in storage and protected from hurricane damage during the seller’s 3-year ownership. Color-matched steel wheels wear chrome hub caps which are said to show pitting, as do other areas of bright trim. The grey-painted rear bumpers are equipped with corner guards and overriders, EMPI side steps are fitted below both front doors, and dual roof racks with wood slats have been installed up top. Single fog lamps are featured at the front and rear, and the headlights wear wire mesh rock guards. The interior is trimmed in cream-colored vinyl and the dash is finished to match the exterior paintwork. Three rows of seating feature lap belts on the split front bench seat and middle row, additional photos of which are provided in the gallery below. The 5-digit odometer shows approximately 92k miles, around 300 of which have been added by the seller. The air-cooled 1,915cc flat-four is said to have been installed by a previous owner and is fed by dual EMPI HPMX carburetors. A Pertronix Flame-Thrower distributor, coil, and ignition wires have also been added. Shifting is through a 4-speed manual transaxle. An oil change was recently carried according to the seller, who notes evidence of an oil leak from beneath. Additional views of the floor pans and frame, as well as other underside components, are shown in the gallery below. Filed under: vw
