1968 Volkswagen Bus

This 1968 Volkswagen Kombi was refurbished and modified in Brazil in the style of a 23-window Samba before being imported to the US in May 2021 by the selling dealer. The van is finished in two-tone blue and white over a reupholstered tan and brown vinyl interior and is powered by an air-cooled 1.5L flat-four paired with a four-speed manual transaxle. Additional equipment includes a Samba-style cloth sunroof, a roof basket and ladder, a Blaupunkt radio, Safari-style windshield panels, sliding door windows, and pop-out side windows. This VW Kombi is now offered by the selling dealer with photocopies of importation documents and  a clean Wyoming title. The bodywork is said to have been stripped and sheet metal was replaced prior to the aforementioned 23-window Samba-style conversion and a repaint in its current two-tone blue and white finish. A ladder mounted to the driver’s side of the van provides access to a roof basket with wooden slats. Additional equipment includes a Samba-style cloth sunroof, Safari-style pop-out windshield panels, sliding door windows, hinged side windows, and white-painted bumpers with overriders and rub strips. Blue-painted 14″ steel wheels wear white-painted VW-stamped hubcaps and are mounted with 185/75 BFGoodrich Silvertown whitewall tires. The interior was reupholstered in tan and brown vinyl and features a perforated white headliner as well as contrasting carpets. The white-painted dash features a basket as well as a passenger-side grab handle, and additional interior equipment includes a Blaupunkt radio and rear side curtains. The two-spoke steering wheel frames a VDO 120-km/h speedometer. The five-digit mechanical odometer reads 4,800 kilometers (~3k miles), and total mileage is unknown. Nine passengers are accommodated across three rows of seating, with the front and rear passenger areas separated by a half-height bulkhead. The air-cooled 1.5L flat-four is said to have been refurbished in Brazil. The selling dealer performed a fluid service in preparation for the sale.
