This 1971 Austin Mini Van is a left-hand drive example that was acquired by the seller around 2008 and has since been modified with a 1.6-liter Honda D16Z6 inline-four equipped with individual throttle bodies. The body was repainted blue with matching fender flares and a white roof, and the interior was overhauled with black vinyl and blue fabric upholstery, a body-color roll bar, and a Sparco quick-release steering wheel. Additional modifications include a five-speed manual transaxle, limited-slip differential, Magnaflow exhaust, Hondata engine management, adjustable coilovers, a fuel cell, front disc brakes, and 13” wheels. The car was reportedly stored for the last two years due to a faulty fuel pump, which is said to have been repaired in preparation for the sale. This Mini is now being offered with a clean California title in the seller’s name. The van was fitted with fender flares and Australian-spec doors with roll-up windows and repainted its current shade of blue with a white roof during the build. The seller notes that the glass has been replaced, and additional equipment includes ambulance-style rear doors, aftermarket side mirrors, chrome bumpers, and a locking fuel filler cap. Aftermarket 13” four-spoke wheels feature black-finished centers with polished lips and are mounted with 175/50 Sumitomo HTR 200 tires. Braking is through front discs with finned drums out back. The vehicle rides on independent front and rear suspension with adjustable coilovers all around. The cabin was reportedly coated with bedliner and fitted with seats trimmed in black vinyl with blue fabric inserts along with matching door panels. Black carpets line the floors, and a replacement headliner was reportedly installed by the seller. Equipment includes a body-color roll bar, Wilwood pedal box, front shoulder belts, and an auxiliary cable wired to speakers housed in the dash. An additional outlet in the dash allows input to the Hondata engine management system. A Sparco steering wheel fitted with a quick-release sits ahead of a body-color dashboard housing an SPA Design instrument panel that features a 9k-rpm tachometer, a 160-mph speedometer, and a digital display. The odometer shows approximately 1k miles, though total chassis mileage is unknown. The 1.6-liter Honda D16Z6 inline-four is equipped with individual throttle bodies and was installed during the build. The engine block was reportedly refurbished by Golden Eagle Manufacturing of San Dimas, California, and equipment is said to include a ported and polished cylinder head, an aluminum radiator, rear-mounted fuel cell, upgraded camshaft, forged pistons, and a Magnaflow exhaust system that exits below the driver’s door. The fuel pump was reportedly repaired in preparation for the sale. Power is sent to the front wheels via a Honda-sourced five-speed manual transaxle and limited-slip differential. According to the seller, the floor pans have been replaced and bedliner material has been applied to the underbody. Additional photos are provided in the gallery below.
