This 1972 Volkswagen Bus was acquired by the seller in California in 2019 and was subsequently refurbished and converted to electric power. The van is finished in two-tone blue and white over brown vinyl and is powered by a Netgain HyPer 9HV electric motor and seven Tesla Model S batteries paired with a four-speed manual transmission. Additional equipment includes a roof rack, a two-piece tailgate, wood floors, a rear lounge seat, front disc brakes, and an Alpine sound system. This electric Type 2 is now offered with a clean California title. The bus was repainted in two-tone blue and white during the refurbishment. Exterior details include a white grille and bumpers, a roof rack, dual side mirrors, and bright bodyside trim. The charging port is located behind the fuel door. The wood floors continue into the rear cargo area which features tan vinyl paneling, an additional lounge seat, and cup holders. Access is through a sliding door on the passenger side of the vehicle as well as through the lift-gate above the engine compartment. The Netgain HyPer 9HV electric motor is powered by seven Tesla Model S batteries and was reportedly installed by The Toy Shack in California. Factory-rated output is 120 horsepower and 172 lb-ft of torque with an 8k-rpm redline. The motor weighs 120 lbs.
