This 1972 Volkswagen Type 2 underwent a 23-window conversion and refurbishment in Brazil prior to being imported to the US by the current owner in 2021. It is finished in two-tone orange and white over plaid cloth upholstery and is powered by a 1.7L flat-four mated to a four-speed manual transaxle. Equipment includes a retractable sunroof, a side-mounted ladder, roof racks, pop-out safari windows, painted bumpers with overriders, 15″ alloy wheels, three rows of seating, a dining table, a sink, cabinets, and side curtains. Service in 2022 is said to have involved adjusting the ignition and changing the oil. This Type 2 is offered by the seller on behalf of the owner with a portable stove, refurbishment photos, and a clean Colorado title in the current owner’s name. The bus received a Samba-style 23-window conversion in Brazil before being repainted orange with a white roof. A retractable sunroof was also installed, and additional exterior details include painted bumpers with overriders, pop-out safari windows, front vent windows, front and rear roof racks with wood slats, and a side-mounted ladder. The seller notes evidence of body filler and areas of cracked paint. Raw Classics 15″ alloy wheels are mounted with 195/55 Aptany Harmonic RP203 tires. Braking is handled by drums at all four corners. The cabin houses seats that have been re-trimmed in plaid cloth and beige vinyl upholstery along with matching door panels and a black rubber floor liner. Sheetmetal surfaces are finished in body color, and appointments include a passenger-side grab handle, sliding front windows, and lap belts. An ivory-colored steering wheel exhibits cracking and fronts a VDO 120-km/h speedometer and a fuel level gauge. The five-digit odometer shows 34k kilometers (~21k miles), and total mileage is unknown. The passenger area is accessed through right-side barn-style doors and features a rear facing second-row bench seat and a third-row bench with storage beneath. Additional equipment includes cabinets, power outlets, a sink, side curtains, and a dining table. A portable two-burner stove is stowed under the rear seat. The air-cooled 1.7L flat-four is fed via a single carburetor and sends power to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transaxle. An oil change was carried out in 2022, at which time adjustments were made to the ignition system. Additional images of the underside are included in the gallery below. Photos documenting various stages of refurbishment work can also be viewed in the gallery.
