This 1972 Volkswagen Type 2 Kombi is a nine-passenger example that underwent a 23-window conversion and refurbishment in Brazil prior to being imported to the US in January 2022. The van is finished in white and light blue over a two-tone beige and white interior and is powered by a 1,500cc flat-four mated to a four-speed manual transaxle. Additional equipment includes dual roof racks, a retractable cloth sunroof, eight safari windows, a side ladder, and painted steel wheels. This Type 2 Kombi is now offered by the selling dealer with a wicker basket picnic set and a clean Florida title. The bus was repainted in two-tone white and light blue during the work in Brazil, which also included a Samba-style 23-window conversion and the installation of a retractable cloth sunroof. Additional details include a side ladder, dual roof baskets with wood slats, eight safari windows, pop-out dual windshields, dual side mirrors, and white-painted bumpers with overriders. Painted 14” steel wheels wear chrome VW hubcaps and are mounted with BFGoodrich Silvertown whitewall tires. A spare is mounted behind the front seats. Braking is provided by four-wheel drums. The cabin houses seats that have been re-trimmed in two-tone beige and white vinyl upholstery along with matching door panels and replacement beige carpeting. Seat belts have been added for all occupants, and additional appointments include a body-color dash, a passenger grab handle, and sliding front windows. The white two-spoke steering wheel fronts a 120-km/h speedometer and a fuel level gauge. The five-digit odometer shows 30k kilometers (~19k miles), though total mileage is unknown. The rear passenger area is accessed through right-side barn doors and features two rows of benches that match the front seats. The air-cooled 1,500cc flat-four is said to have been rebuilt in Brazil and is topped with a single carburetor. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transaxle that was also reportedly rebuilt. Additional underside images are presented in the gallery. A wicker basket picnic set is included in the sale. Filed under: vw
