This 1972 Volkswagen Type 2 Kombi is a Brazilian-market example that is equipped with a high roof and was converted to a food truck under previous ownership. It is finished in two-tone light blue and white over black vinyl upholstery and powered by an air-cooled 1,500cc flat-four paired with a four-speed manual transaxle. The van is equipped with four outward-facing television display screens along with pop-out side windows on either side, a removable side counter, two sinks, a 12-volt water pump, a refrigerator, a propane cooktop, exhaust fans, a shore power connection, a 2,000-watt power inverter, and storage cabinets. This Kombi food truck was acquired by the seller in March 2021 and is now offered at no reserve with a clean Illinois title in the seller’s name. The van is equipped with a high-roof with pop-out side cutouts and was repainted in two-tone light blue and white under prior ownership. A removable countertop can be attached below the pop-up order windows, and four television displays are mounted in the rear window openings. Connections for shore power and propane are fitted at the rear. The 14″ steel wheels wear Volkswagen-branded hubcaps and are mounted with 185-series TransAce Aeolus tires. A spare is stowed in the rear compartment. Braking is handled by four-wheel drums. The front cabin features bucket seats trimmed in black vinyl upholstery with contrasting red stitching joined by a body-color dashboard and gray door panels. An aftermarket head unit has been added to the dash, and the USB input can be used to control the content displayed on the external televisions. The two-spoke steering wheel sits ahead of a VDO 120-km/h speedometer and a gauge for fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows 59k kilometers (~37k miles), less than 500 of which were added under current ownership. Total mileage is unknown. The passenger area has been converted for use as a food truck with food prep surfaces, two sinks, a 12-volt water pump, a 20-gallon water tank, a propane cooktop, two exhaust vents, a refrigerator, rooftop lighting, and storage cabinets. The rear compartment houses a 220-volt/2,000-watt power inverter, a 400-watt power inverter, and a 55-amp charging device. The air-cooled 1,500cc flat-four features a single down-draft carburetor and was reportedly overhauled under prior ownership. Maintenance performed in 2020 consisted of adjusting the timing as well as replacing the ignition coil and distributor. Power is delivered to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transaxle, which is also said to have been overhauled under prior ownership. Filed under: vw
